Cashback For Rights Violation

Further to earlier post from Consumerist on the horrible way a customer was treated at Walmart, there was a nice suggestion from one the blog readers to compensate for the trouble the customer would take by having his/her bill checked by store clerks.

Should security think of treating me like a thief, they have to give away something for my trouble of letting them do so, – the reader says. This may be some sort of a commercial offer – say, a 10% discount from the bill or some cash, if you will.

I honestly don’t see how feasible it is in a US outlet – never been to any, but I can imagine the faces of the security guys here in Russia. Checking customers at the exit is a very common practice here, and with police and others’ attitude to civil rights here I would surely be mistreated at the store, and laughed at if I ask for any apology for that, let alone an actual compensation. Sad but true, this is not uncommon…
