Once again we have bottled water designers pursuing the idea of eco-friendliness (see here my last post related to the topic). Re:newal water bottle is made of plants. It is fully recyclable and is not supposed to harm the environment. Here is what the guys at Re:newal say:

water and oil simply do not mix. that’s why our bottle is made from surplus plants and not petroleum-based plastic. the materials used are grown from our own soil, and just as easily returned to it. through our partnership with NatureWorks, we use the Ingeo polymer to create our bottles. this ingenious polymer offers unique alternatives to traditional PET bottles, including 100% recycling, industrial composting, and even incineration.

re:newal spring water is a corn based bottle. this PLA bottle is a biodegradable water bottle, with the great taste of a natural spring water.

A great piece of design comes from Gonglue Jiang. If you ever had your hand lean on a non-visible to your eye surface to find a used gum stick to it, you will surely find this idea useful. The 2 in 1 concept is a bottle of chewing gum with a sticky paper tape (you wrap you gum in it) and a temporary storage section (where you can store your paper-wrapped used gum to throw them away later).

Here’s what the designer says about the concept:

The popularity of bottled chewing gums is accompanied by people ‘having to’ pollute the environment. Therefore, I designed a kind of gum bottle that can help people package chewed gum and throw away later — an invention that help people achieve their environmental-friendly selves. I named it ‘Green Seeds’, because I believe that for the nature, less pollution equals more affection.

Great idea, good design, I’m waiting for Orbit, Dirol and the rest of the guys to adopt.

I posted a couple of news whith interesting design for bottled water, one of which was missing some volume to share with dry lands, while another one’s (Water For Water) profit was aimed at implementing various water projects in developing countries.

Now, there’s another interesting design from Karim Rashid.

PSFK reports about Water Bobble:

Water Bobble, an inexpensive bottle with a replaceable carbon filter. With a simple design for filtering tap water, the bottle offers a reusable and environmentally-friendly alternative to the increasingly damaging consumption of bottled water.

Luxist.com adds some more light on the product:

what makes it tap friendly is a carbon filter that meets or exceeds NSF International Standard 42, the standard that governs public and private drinking water. The filter should be replaced every two months or after filtering around 40 gallons of water. It sells for $9.95 and will be available from March 1 in multiple retail outlets, including Bed Bath & Beyond, JC Penney, Whole Foods and many others.

A great idea, well done for the designer…
